“This state calls itself protecting transsexuals like myself. However, the experience of myself and others are that the state falls greatly short on its promise. As Governor, how would you make Illinois a safe place for me to call home?”
And provided my question is heard/seen, the answer is generally positive. That’s something I like about Illinois politics, our politics are deeply mired in corruption but it seems that none of our politicians are genuinely evil.
Well, that is until the same question was shot across Jeanne Ives’ bow...
I’ve long considering furthering my political activism...and this ad may be just the thing that pushes me to try to make sure this woman never gets anywhere close to discriminating me. As it is, this state sucks with trans rights, all we need is Ives! Just...wow.

I’ve seen 1 commercial supporting this woman and she seems to be batshit insane. Good god I hope she doesn’t go anywhere.

I’ve got a friend who works on the Pritzker campaign. He seems like a solid dude but his adds are really the only ones I see cause he has them on hulu

It’s going to be a wild ride, that’s for sure. Seems like there are 2 serious R candidates and 3 on the D side — but Rauner and Pritzker are already running attack ads against each other, so we could see some hot billionaire on billionaire action this fall.

Her NPR interview is even worse. Someone who has a same sex couple as parents asked her about about her awful record trying to hurt various LGBTQ communities.
Her answer was basically “I support LGBTQ rights if the feds decide to do so. If not, just like with Sanctuary Cities, then I’ll follow.”
Right, so your answer really is “I hate LGBTQ people, but here’s a totally-not bull explanation for my voting record!”

Yeah that’s not her true position on LGBTQ issues. She wants to ban same sex marriage, ban LGBTQ adoption and thinks conversion therapy is an “individual choice”.
She seems to be way behind Rauner, hopefully it stays that way. If she does beat him somehow, I have to think Pritzker will crush her in the general.
I’ll probably vote in the R primary just to vote against her.
